On march 10th, 2020 my 11th annual exams got over and yet, the school was ready to start classes for 12th in full swing from the very next day.
But unfortunately nothing happened as planned...
After the math exam got over we all returned to hostel around 12pm and had our lunch.
We were asked to clear the clutter of all unwanted things like roughs so as to make space for our new books, but little did they know that wouldn't be required. As soon as the tea bell went off all of us went down to have tea along with the snacks and yet again, no one knew we were not gonna sip that tea for a really long time.
Until our warden made the announcement.......that blew our mind off.
We repeatedly kept asking him if it was true and finally he told it ,"They say and I quote, the Corona virus has arrived in India and you are all free to go now".
There it was, the break we were all waiting for.
The very moment, the place became a complete chaos, people started running and shouting due to excitement and started calling up their parents. I could see the Joy in everyone's faces just like the joy a prisoner has when he is on parole.
But unfortunately the joy was a pretty short lived one, the reports said that schools would stay closed until 31st march and reopening dates would be decided soon after that.
But the word "Reopening" lost its existence from the dictionary soon after.
A quick fact, when I am writing this article, its already been 208 days of which I have stepped out only thrice. Interesting isn't it?
When I came home I was amped to enjoy to my utmost strength, and yes, I did have lots of fun for the next three days not daring to touch my books, but then the nation wide locked was declared and things started to slip from hands. I couldn't go out , that was ok I could do lots of productive things at home, as a matter of fact I even started my 12th prep using Unacademy and Byjus and it was going ok for me, except that it was a bit boring.
Living with grandparents meant getting all the care u need , and yes they deeply supported me during the lockdown ready to do anything for me.
But then all of a sudden a new concept popped up, ONLINE CLASSES, and to be honest it is a really pathetic way of taking classes, especially if all the students are on mute with the camera off at all times but Alas, we have no choice. I really appreciate the work of teachers and coaching institutions who work hard day and night to provide us with the best content but the question which lies in the deep is how much is a student getting from it, no its not the mistake of the teacher but purely of the student.
Internet and social media addiction is really converting us from humans to zombies, an addiction which is just like COVID ,has no vaccine to it.
If you ask me how its for me lets just say its purely pathetic, for me the problem of internet addiction is immense, but thankfully our coaching institute is doing a great work of providing us with recorded classes which makes it a lot easier and it is also easier to concentrate more when classes are recorded.
Another factor which has caused problems is our health, from over straining of the eyes to high hours of sitting with no or little exercise is causing drastic health issues. and yes, I have plenty of experience on all of this and even more.
As a whole lets just say that the lockdown which was supposed to be awesome turned out to be our worst nightmare.
So by now you must be having a clear picture of the message I am trying to deliver.
What do you think? how has the lockdown effected you?
Let me know.
Have an experience or story to share? why not make it here.
As usual thank you for reading this article till the end , and a special thanks to all the teachers for giving us the content we need even during the difficult times.
See ya!
