If you are a grade 12 student (also called O level) you are probably wondering what should you study after your boards. As a kid we all have various ambitions in our mind and always keep our spirits high in hopes of achieving it ,but when you get to the higher secondary level of your school building you will realize that things are no longer the same as it used to be...
Till 10th most of the students (including me)
Take life very lightly, they say things will go as per destiny and they don't have to worry much about it, But when you reach 11th you see all the doors in right in front of you but unfortunately don't have access to the keys. At this point you discover occupations you have never even heard of and you realize getting into a good collage is not as easy as you thought.
Well I am only stepping onto 12th grade this year and my situation is a familiar one. Well basically it's more or less the same portions for both the boards and the competitive exams ,in fact the board's official text books is considered as the bible for both.
But that is where the SIMILARITIES end..
In boards you have a large amount of time to prepare. Even the entrance gives you 2 complete years to prepare but you will always find the time very short as it gives you questions from both 11th and 12th which requires a vast exposure to questions and I mean real time mind blowing questions ,while for boards learning your text and notes throughly will easily get you a 90 percent . But the 90 percent here never means you might even score half the score in your entrance.
Yeah I agree, I am being too harsh. There are many exams out there which are easy enough but exams like JEE and NEET are the ones you should be looking foward to and oh boy they are not a child's toy.
Only a consistent practice of a good number of questions daily will do you good. Start small, end BIG. Once you have cleared JEE or NEET with a good rank , You can be pretty sure your life is settled, but wait a minute if you are an IIT aspirant you need to works loads more as after clearing the JEE mains you need to write the ADVANCED version . Which is considered as one of the most toughest exams along with GAOKAO and GATE.
Well If you think that scoring in entrance is enough ,your mistaken. Your 12th board Marks are very important especially if you want to persue undergraduate courses abroad also you should be taking exams like the SAT,ACT and IELTS for the best colleges.
Well all what I have told here is not to scare you or get you out of your wits. It's just to convey how crucial your choices can be after 12th which determines the journey of the rest of your life.
